A Professor of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, Dr. David Darrow is founder and Co-Director of the EVMS Center for Hemangiomas and Vascular Birthmarks where his practice and multidisciplinary treatment program specializes in vascular lesions of the head and neck in both children and adults.
Dr. Darrow served for 13 years on the executive committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics section on otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, including terms as its chair and program chair. He has also served on several AAP panels and is currently participating in the development of referral guidelines for children with vascular birthmarks. In addition, he is a past member of the board of directors of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology.
Among his clinical interests and areas of research, Dr. Darrow focuses on the grading and staging of infantile hemangiomas and orodental manifestations of facial port wine stains. He has authored a study of orodental manifestations of facial port wine stains, and was the lead author of the AAP Clinical Report on Infantile Hemangiomas; he has also authored several book chapters on vascular anomalies in neonates and children.
A native of New York City, Dr. Darrow graduated from the Duke University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of California San Diego Medical Center.
